Ayrshire Dog Agility Club began as a small hobby shared by six friends, originally meeting at a farm owned by one of the group.

As interest grew, the club approached the local council to seek a more permanent venue. The council offered the use of a grassed area behind a sports hall, and the move was soon agreed. Increased visibility and word-of-mouth led to growing interest in agility, and membership numbers quickly began to rise.

With this growth, the club became more formally established. A committee was formed, officers were elected, and Ayrshire Dog Agility Club developed into a well-structured and organised club.

In 1996, the original ground was redeveloped and, after an extensive search, the club relocated to its current home at Williamwood Field in Fullarton Woods, Troon. To support the move, members fundraised to purchase two large shipping containers for equipment storage — a goal that was successfully achieved within a year thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of the membership.

Today, the club has a membership of around 27 people and, in 2009, proudly achieved official registration with The Kennel Club.

Training takes place once a week during general club nights, with members also having unlimited access to the field for additional practice as needed. During the spring and summer months (April to October), training is held outdoors at Williamwood Field. Over the winter period, sessions move indoors to Galrigside Farm, allowing training to continue all year round.

While many members actively compete in agility shows, the club remains a welcoming training environment for all abilities. Whether you’re interested in competition, exercise, or simply socialising with your dog, Ayrshire Dog Agility Club offers a friendly and supportive atmosphere for both handlers and dogs alike.
